Family Resource Centres
Provides a friendly, supportive place for family activities including structured and unstructured games and crafts, educational sessions for parents and opportunities for parents to speak with trained staff and other families about parenting and life challenges. The centres in Montgomery and Ranchlands offer a toy lending library.

Healthy Families Program
Provides ongoing support to newborns and their parents through home visits by Families Matter Staff. This program promotes a healthy relationship between parents and their young children. Clients must live in NE Calgary to access this service.

Parents and Children Together (PACT)
Provides parent education, child development information, a supervised children’s program (up to age 5), a forum for exchanging parenting ideas and support from other parents. Programs are offered in Bowness, Edgemont, Dalbrent, Harvest Hills, Highwood, Millrise, and Riverbend.

Parents as Teachers Program
Provides parents (of children pre-birth to age 3) with research- based child development information and activities that help parents shape their children’s early learning activities. Families enrolled receive in-home visits from a PAT-certified parent educator, screenings to assess the child’s overall development and meetings with other PAT parents to share parenting and child development information.

Parent Child Mother Goose Program
A free program for parents, caregivers and children (birth to 5 years) which uses rhymes, stories and songs to promote positive language based interactions between adults and children. Also offers an opportunity for socialization and discussion with other parents and caregivers. Sessions run an hour a week for 10 weeks in various locations throughout the city.

Parent Stress Line/Parent Match Programs
The Parent Stress Line operates from 6 a.m. to midnight and offers parenting information and support. Parents who request ongoing help following their call may become part of the Parent Match Program and receive weekly call back for 12 weeks.

Postpartum Support Program
Offers consultations with trained staff for mothers and their families struggling in the postpartum period. Staff will provide extensive support and access services and resources best suited to the situation. Services include weekly telephone calls from experienced volunteers, a postpartum package full of information pertaining to coping strategies and personal affirmations, weekly support group meetings, information sessions for couples and/or fathers, referrals to community resources and access to a lending library of books, articles and videos. Childcare is often available during many daytime groups.
